What is a CERTIFIED REHABILITATION COUNSELOR?

Rehabilitation counselors are the only professional counselors educated and trained at the graduate-level who possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work collaboratively with individuals with disabilities. Through a comprehensive unique counseling process, certified rehabilitation counselors help individuals with disabilities achieve their personal, social, psychological, career, and independent living goals. Rehabilitation counselors are the bridge between the individual and self-sufficiency, helping their clients live fully integrated lives.

Why does CRC Certification matter?

The purpose of a credential certificate is to both protect the public and to guarantee that a person who holds the credential has met a minimum standard for professional and ethical standards. Individuals who have passed the CRC examination have demonstrated that they have met those standards of practice. The CRC also speaks to a commitment to the profession and a commitment to ongoing continuing education to maintain the credential.

CRCs ARE MORE LIKELY TO DELIVER SERVICES THAT ARE:

  • Designed to promote public welfare and are quality-driven.
  • Focused on individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Dedicated to helping their clients live fully integrated lives.
  • Efficient and cost-effective.

Since 1974 and continuing to this day, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) has existed to evaluate and review the initial and continuing qualifications and competence of its Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC). What does that mean for you or your family? It means you are in excellent hands when you choose to receive services from a CRC.

Furthermore, it means that the services you receive will be of the highest quality and focused on achieving a successful outcome.

Many clients often assume that they are working with a CRC who is specialized in rehabilitation services, but this is not always the case. Don’t compromise when it comes to the quality of services you receive. Take a moment to confirm that your rehabilitation counselor is, in fact, certified by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
